How we keep your child safe

You're trusting us with your child's learning, and that's a big deal. Here's exactly how Examzi works, what we do to protect them, and the honest bits too. No small print, no surprises.

Updated 10 October 2026. About 4 minutes to read.

1

Meet Ace, the tutor

In short: Ace is an AI tutor that teaches schoolwork, kindly, and steers back to a trusted adult if anything worrying comes up.

Ace is the voice tutor inside Examzi. It's powered by AI from OpenAI and set up to do one job: help your child understand their GCSE or A-Level subjects. It explains, draws on a whiteboard, asks questions and celebrates the wins.

  • Ace keeps everything right for a school student, and is told never to tease, mock or use sarcasm.
  • If your child mentions anything unsafe, harmful, sexual or about self-harm, Ace responds with care and encourages them to talk to a parent, teacher or another trusted adult.
  • Ace always knows it's talking to a student, and pitches everything at their level.

The honest bit: Ace is a tutor, not a counsellor, and it doesn't alert anyone. AI can also get things wrong now and then, so Examzi works best alongside teachers and textbooks, not instead of them.

2

No strangers, no chat rooms

In short: Students can't message each other on Examzi. The only other people in the picture are you and, for school accounts, their teachers.

There are no public profiles, no friend requests and no messaging between students. Your child talks to Ace, and that's it.

If your child joins through their school, classmates may see a class leaderboard with names and scores. The school can switch it off at any time.

3

Voices, microphones and lessons

In short: We ask before the microphone is ever used, we never save the audio, and the written lesson stays private to your child.

  • We ask for permission before the first voice lesson. If your child is under 13, a parent has to say yes.
  • Audio is streamed live to Ace and never saved by us. OpenAI may hold it for up to 30 days purely to check for misuse, then deletes it. OpenAI doesn't use it to train its AI.
  • We keep a written copy of each lesson (what was said and what went on the whiteboard) so Ace can pick up where your child left off.
  • Only your child can read that full written copy. You'll see a summary instead: what they nailed, what tripped them up and what to do next. It gives them a safe space to ask "silly" questions without feeling watched.

4

What you can see as a parent

In short: Your Parent Hub shows real progress: practice, scores, time spent and what each lesson covered.

  • Drills, mock exams, flashcards and homework, with scores.
  • How much time they've spent learning, day by day.
  • A summary of every lesson with Ace: what went well and what needs work.
  • Their subjects and how they're getting on in each one.

5

Healthy habits built in

In short: Lessons check in when things go quiet and close themselves if your child wanders off.

  • Family plans come with a weekly tutor-time allowance, so lessons don't take over the week.
  • Ace checks in when things go quiet and ends the lesson if your child has walked away.
  • No endless feeds, no autoplay videos and no ads trying to keep them scrolling.

6

Their data, handled with care

In short: We collect only what's needed to teach, never sell it, and you can download or delete it whenever you like.

  • No adverts, no selling data, no profiling for marketing.
  • Analytics are off until someone says yes.
  • Accounts are stored in Europe (Frankfurt), sent over encrypted connections and locked so each student only sees their own.
  • Download your data or delete the account any time from Settings.

Every detail is in our Privacy Policy, written to be read, not skimmed.
